Female Student (Travel) Award 2022

Application period extended!
Win one of seven stipends (500 euros each) and attend a conference to connect with other female researchers. With this award, the collaborative research centers CROSSING and MAKI, the research training group Privacy & Trust, and the LOEWE center emergenCITY recognize exceptionally well performances of female students in computer science, electrical engineering, and information technology. The seven winners will be awarded a stipend of 500 euros and we want to encourage them to use the money to attend one of the listed conferences, which are focused on connecting female researchers in computer science and engineering, to take advantage of the excellent networking opportunities during these events.

Vierter “Athene Young Investigator” im SFB 1053 MAKI
Wir sind überaus stolz und freuen uns sehr mit unserem PI Dr.-Ing. Tobias Meuser, dass er von der TU Darmstadt zum “Athene Young Investigator” ernannt wurde. Nach Amr Rizk, Lin Wang und Arash Asadi ist Tobias Meuser bereits der vierte junge Wissenschaftler des SFBs, der diese Förderung erhält.

Unser diesjähriger „Scientific Workshop“ mit dem Thema „Adaptive Networking for Cyber-Physical Systems“ findet am Freitag, den 18. März 2022 ab 09:45 Uhr statt und richtet sich explizit auch an alle Interessierten außerhalb des SFBs. Daniel Quevedo (QUT/Queensland), Sebastian Trimpe (RWTH Aachen) und Marco Zimmerling (TU Dresden), Antonello Monti (RWTH Aachen) sowie James Gross (KTH/Stockholm) werden referieren; abschließend gibt es eine offene Diskussionsrunde. Die Veranstaltung findet via Zoom statt. Es ist erforderlich sich kostenfrei zu registrieren, um die Zugangsdaten zu erhalten.

Frau Dr.-Ing. Andrea Ortiz erhält den Dr. Wilhelmy-VDE-Preis 2020 des Verbands der Elektrotechnik, Elektronik Informationstechnik e.V. (VDE) für ihre Dissertation zum Thema „Optimization and Learning Approaches for Energy Harvesting Wireless Communication Systems“. Wir gratulieren unserer Teilprojektleiterin ganz herzlich! In ihrer Arbeit stellt sie Lösungen zur Steigerung der Performanz drahtloser Kommunikationsnetzwerke vor, die mit Hilfe der Energy-Harvesting-Technologie aus der Umgebung gewonnene Energie nutzen.

The Female Student Travel Award could finally be given again after a year's break due to Corona. We are proud, that we were able to award 7 prizes on 15. July 2021! The award winners all distinguished themselves through outstanding achievements in their studies of electrical engineering and information technology or computer science. The SFB MAKI honours Hannah Keller and Helena Mehler. Congratulations! The organising research associations MAKI, CROSSING, GRK Privacy and Trust and emergenCITY have decided to give out the award in the form of prize money of 500-,€ each, due to the ongoing pandemic and the associated travel restrictions. The eponym of our special lecture series “Ruzena Bajcsy Lectures on Communication” is the first woman to receive the “IEEE Medal for Innovations in Healthcare Technology”.
