Project area D (Technology) is a new area in Phase III and deals with the development of new technologies to address limitations of existing technologies.
In Phase I and Phase II, the focus of project areas A-C was on transitions using existing technologies for mechanisms and multi-mechanisms. The goal of project area D in Phase III is to develop new technologies to address limitations of existing technologies. The focus of D1 will be on edge-technologies and wireless networks, while D2 will focus on technologies for cloud data center networks as part of the communication systems considered in MAKI. The essential goal of the new project area is to enable new types of transitions to better address MAKI goals in Phase III (mission crucial requirements, automated transition logic construction, and cooperative transitions).
