A most enduring concept from the telephony system is the continuous connection and even the voluminous research on ad hoc networks treated mobility and churn as exceptional cases, as problems to be overcome. We have taken another view and have for a decade been studying intermittent communication among mobile devices in form of opportunistic networking.|
I will present our system design and evaluation and describe the need for better mobility models.
Gunnar Karlsson is professor of KTH Royal Institute of Technology since 1998 and head of the Department of Network and System Engineering. He has previously worked for IBM Zurich Research Laboratory and the Swedish Institute of Computer Science (SICS). His current research relates to opportunistic networking, mobility modeling and online education. |
