Abstract
The first part of the talk will present the 5G system architecture and 5G core elements and protocols, highlighting the high impact that NFV and SDN has had its design. The main characteristics of the 5G Architecture (control-user plane separation, service-based architecture and slicing) will be covered with some detail. The second part of the talk will present an overview of the impact of NFV and SDN on the design of 5G Services, illustrating it with three concrete cases: non-3GPP access, Multi-Access Edge Computing and the 5GRANGE project network design. Finally, a link will be made with the Lab exercises based on the ONOS-based Alviu controller.
