Migration of Network State Information for Efficient Transition Support

Subproject A3 investigates the optimization of transitions in both end-systems and the network by means of proactive and software-defined migration of network state information. To this end, classes of communication patterns are identified in mobile applications and mapped to optimal mechanisms. Network state information is exploited to either proactively prepare for a transition or to optimize a transition during execution. The initiation of transitions is either triggered locally by an end-system or system-wide by a SDWN-controller. Conflicts between coexisting multi-mechanisms are handled by using resource virtualization and by augmenting the functionality of SDWNs with novel methods for fair resource allocation.
