MAKI, GI/ITG, KuVS - Summer School 2018

Goal and motivation

The aim of the Summer School is, on the one hand, to familiarize young scientists with one of the most important areas of the division's work in order to pass on current knowledge and to introduce new colleagues to this field quickly but intensively. On the other hand, young PhD students should have the opportunity to get to know thematically like-minded people in order to build up a close and powerful network at an early stage, which will serve both the individuals and the German research in this field.

As with the Summer Schools in previous years, we are sure to have another highly interesting event on an equally exciting topic!

Organization

This year's GI/ITG KuVS Summer School is organized by the

Content

Internationally renowned scientists will give lectures on various topics and discuss them with the participants of the Summer School. In general, talks and discussions will take precedence over pure lectures. There will also be time for the presentation and discussion of own work.

The overarching theme of this year's Summer School is “Industrial Internet”. The aim is to address and discuss challenges and possible solutions that can be implemented in practice. The challenges in detail depend strongly on the application scenario. The lectures will therefore usually address at least one concrete scenario each.

The following topics, among others, will be discussed at the summer school:

  • Network concepts for specific industrial applications
  • Cyber Physical Networking
  • Industrial sensor networks
  • Robust security concepts for the Industrial Internet

Lecturers

For this year's summer school, we have been able to attract an outstanding, internationally renowned team of lecturers:

Target group

The offer is aimed at young German-speaking academics who are currently working on their doctorate or who intend to do so in the near future.

Venue, travel and organisational details

The Summer School will take place at the Burghotel Dinklage. Dinklage and the conference hotel combine the peace and quiet necessary for a Summer School with excellent working and leisure facilities. Participants will arrive in Osnabrück either on Monday or early on Tuesday at the latest. From there, a bus transfer to the venue will be offered (included in the participant fee). The hotel in Dinklage is also conveniently located close to the A1 motorway, so that an individual car journey directly to the conference hotel is also possible by arrangement.
