Abstract
This lecture given an overview on the state-of-the-art in P4-programmable hardware switches and a deep-dive into the hardware architecture of SDN switches. We will discuss Intel's FM10000-series (FM10k) switch-on-NIC devices as an representative example. The Intel FM10k series is one of the few state-of-the-art devices where a complete datasheet is publicly available.
Bio
Jeremias Blendin is a software engineer at Intel's Barefoot Switch Division. Before that, he was a researcher at DE-CIX, the world's largest Internet exchange point. He received his PhD at
Technische Universität Darmstadt in 2018 and his master‘s degree in 2013 at the same university. His research interests include programmable network data planes and software-defined networking.
