Abstract
With the upcoming availability of sensors – both embedded in infrastructure and mobile devices – more and more applications depend on real-world phenomena. Many of these applications use the internet as a communication and collaboration platform, from crowd sensing over social location-based services up to upcoming smart city environments. This poses challenges to the underlying infrastructure, which has to constantly adapt to deal efficiently with changing data rates, event patterns, and the potential mobility of the applications.
